 Nacton - Home

Haverhill 2nds entertained Nacton for their last Home match of the Season . With promotion gone Skipper Wilkins was hoping for a good performance to ensure an unbeaten Home record for the Season . The Hosts had been beaten by Nacton earlier in the Season but a home win was always on the cards .

Wilkins won the toss and invited the Visitors to bat first and after 16 overs may have been regretting that choice as the Nacton Openers attacked anything loose as the score raced to 76-0 . Russell Davis was introduced to the attack and showed what quality he possesses to take 4 wickets for 39 runs from 15 overs of aggressive bowling . The Visitors crumbled from 76-0 to 107-8 in 18 overs of tight bowling and a much improved fielding performance all round typified by a magnificent catch at Mid-Off by Tom Saville as he caught the dangerous Fincham inches from the ground after a full blooded drive . Not content with the catch the 15 year old bowled 6 overs and took 3 - 10 to rip the heart out of Nacton's batting . Joey Kettle took a wicket in 7 tight overs for 23 runs at the end and Nacton finished on 140 -8 from 45 overs .

The Home side opened with Neil Winter and Steve Fox and both played positively before Fox (10)was well caught in the 6th over with the score on 31 . Liam Savage joined Winter at the crease and both played with great freedom and power as the Visitors bowling was put to the sword. In an unbroken stand of 110 runs in just 15.4 overs they had reached the victory target in rapid time .

Neil Winter scored 62 not out and included 10Fours and Liam Savage scored 61 not out including 7 Fours and 2 mightySixes . Both batted superbly and Haverhill won with 22 overs left .

A much better fielding performance this week and all the Bowlers did what they needed to doto such an extent that Skipper Wilkins and leading wicket taker Dan Webb did not get to bowl . So an unbeaten home campaignshows what can be achieved by this squad of Players as we move to our last game of the Season against League Leaders Brightlingsea 2nds .
