 General Information

 Woolpit - Away
Stand in skipper Joey Kettle lost the toss and Haverhill were asked to field first. Woolpit were batting on a good looking pitch that seemed to promise a bucket load of runs.
Russell Davis and first team all-rounder Robbie Ketteridge took the new ball and started well. The first wicket went down at 16 with Batsmen Newcombe skying Ketteridge, wicketkeeper Dingley took the catch. The next wicket came in Ketteridge's following over, bowling West with a ball that nipped back and knocked off the bails. Davis continued to bowl well and eventually got his reward getting Metcalf caught behind by Dingley for 3. Bowling changes brought spin tiwns Antony Phillips and Sam Pass on to bowl, both bowled extremely well and with great maturity. Phillips claimed the next scalp getting Taylor caught behind. Pass then joined the party taking 2 wickets in his second over, there was another dismisal for Dingley with him smartly stumping Parker for 38. Pass then took his third in his fifth over, the Woolpit captain spooning one up to the eagerly awaiting Dellar at short mid-wicket. Haverhill contitinued to attack with spin at both ends and attacking fields. Ketteridge came back and got his third wicket with the first ball of his
second spell. Sharpe was brought on at the other end and kept things tight with good, controlled swing bowling. Woolpit were restricted to 153 for 8 from their alloted 40 overs. Good bowling partnerships between Davis & Ketteridge and Phillips & Pass were key in keeping the score down.
Haverhill were feeling good at tea with Woolpit setting them a below par score. First team skipper Adam Dellar and Steve Fox set about chasing down the target. They both started watchfully and after 10 overs with the score was on 37 for 0 the Run rate started to climb. Fox played the anchor role with Dellar the aggressor. Dellar started playing his shots and smashing the bowling to all parts, with the sixteenth over going for 18, Dellar smashing4 fours. After 20 overs the score was the on 135 for 0. Dellar was close to his hundred and Fox was supporting him well. The next over went for 16 and Dellar moved on to a brilliantly constructed 110 not out. The First ball of the next over went for 4 byes and was a tame way to finish the game. Haverhill were victorious by 10 wickets with an unbroken opening partnership between Adam Dellar (110no) and Steve Fox (25no).
