Haverhill 2nds v Woolpit Academy
Sunday 18th July 2010.
The Haverhill 2nd Sunday XI aim is all about being a vehicle for youth development and a transition between youth and senior cricket. Once again this mission was demonstrated in style by a team containing six junior players in their match against Woolpit at the Manor Road ground. Woolpit were put in to bat and suffered from the start at the hands of Haverhill’s 14 year old opening bowler Jack Mitchison. At the end of a very fine spell of six overs he had taken four wickets for only 20 runs and ripped the batting heart out of Woolpit. Steve Saville 2 for 13, Tom Saville 2 for 26 and 1 for 6 from Chris Thompson completed the rout. Woolpit were all out for 93 in only 26 overs. To emphasise the youthful abilities of the Haverhill side young Sam Hartshorn opened the batting with the flourish, style and growing confidence that is now his signature. He continued his fine season with the bat scoring 64 not out, finishing the match with Chris Thompson who was on 13 not out. Haverhill won by 8 wickets in only the 14th over. |
