 Battisford - Away . Abandoned

Haverhill skipper won the toss and decided to field on a very green, wet looking wicket. It paid immediate dividends as Poole and Woodley bowled great areas to keep the Battisford batsmen on a tight leash. Poole was exceptional, bowling the perfect outswingers on a perfect bowlers wicket. He made an early breakthrough and added two more scalps later on to finish with figures of 3-34 off 10. Woodley beat the bat on a number of occasions bowling at a fair pace without any luck. Rob Sullivan replaced Woodley and also bowled with pace and accuracy (1-28 off 10). Sullivan removed the stubborn Copping, well caught by Poole.  At the 25 overs mark, Battisford had reached 94-4. Battisford opener, D Crame held firm and started to punish lose bowling, smashing Sharpe for 3 sixes in one over. He reached his hundred and was then removed by the returning Woodley thanks to a great diving catch from Poole. Z Smith pushed on and finished 39 not out. Woodley removed Diedrichs to finish with 2-47 off 9. Battisford finished up on 204-6.

Haverhil began their reply seeking their first victory of the season. Sullivan and Wigan were watchful but struggled to get some tight bowling away. Both fell top edging a pull shot. Bradford soon followed and a collapse was on the cards. However, Poole continued his top form and young Craig Williams battled to form a 95 partnership. Both punished poor bowling and put Haverhill into a potentially winning position. Williams fell caught and bowled and Dingley unselfishlessly perished trying to up the run rate. Woodley joined Poole to put on a 40 partnership before Poole fell for a brilliant 94. At that point the heavens opened and an almighty downpour put an end to the game with Haverhill needing 34 runs off 4.4 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
