Haverhill Sunday 2nds V Rougham 06/06/2010
On a warm humid day Haverhill won the toss and elected to bat. Haverhill got off to the worst possible start, loosing Hartshorn in the first over, this brought Greg Street to the crease and with A Phillips they looked to try and repair some of the early damage, but with some tight bowling from the Rougham opening bowlers runs were hard to come by. In the 13th over a change of bowling and this brought the 2nd Haverhill wicket of A Phillips for a very patient 16. In came P Spurling and went very quickly for 0, this brought C Thompson to the crease who looked to try and push the score along with Street. At the half way stage Haverhill were on a lowly score of 57, another change of bowling brought the wicket of G Street for a very patient and hard fought 34. Next out was Thompson for 19, D Saville hung around for 6, B Wilkins played a patient innings and made a respectable 21 before being caught, J Craig 4 and S Saville 14 tried to push the runs along but after 40 over’s a small total of 126 was below what would be needed. When Rougham came out to bat it looked like they wanted to finish quickly with Pruden and Boor hitting the Haverhill bowlers to all parts of the ground. After 10 over’s they were on 75 with rain starting to come in they were looking to finish in quick time. S Saville took the wicket of Pruden for 23 and then C Thompson trapped the dangerous Boor for a very fine 84, earning him M.O.M. Another below par batting performance for Haverhill saw this game run away from them very easily.
