GREAT CORNARD v HAVERHILL SUNDAY 2ND XI
23rd MAY 2010.
Haverhill were put in to bat on a beautifully warm and sunny day at Cornard. Haverhill, almost to a man, then failed to make hay while the sun shone as wicket soon followed wicket. The one shining exception was Haverhill’s young wicket keeper Alex Archer with a very good innings of 36, showing the others how it should be done, both with his technique and attitude. A miserable total of 97 was reached including 23 extras and for the third time in four innings this season Haverhill failed to use their allotted 40 overs, this time all out in 28 overs. M.Barlow was the pick of Cornard’s bowlers, finishing with 5 for 22 from 7.3 overs. Cornard reached the required 98 runs for victory in the 23rd over having lost 4 wickets. Sam Hartshorn bowled well and was rewarded by picking up 3 for 20 from 6 overs. All in all a game to forget for Haverhill and with no game until June 6th, there’s time for some much needed net practice.
