Down the A14 to play Ipswich at Clay Hall. A bouncy, hard track and with Del calling correctly we chose to field. Stu + Silvers obviously found conditions to their liking as they both returned season's best figures. Stu 4 wickets and Chris 3. The other two wickets to fall went to the Sheriff as he continues to impress. Ealham no wickets this week but his eight overs only went for 18. Lukey behind the stumps claimed 3 more catches and also dealt well with the pace and bounce generated by the bowlers. 149 for 9 and the bowlers looked like they had done their job ....but.........as you know we are more than capable of only doing half the job and so it proved.
20 for 3 and in trouble straight away with Scott, Del + Powelly all in the hutch. Godders + Streety repaired the damage but we went from 68 for 3 to 92 for 7 as Godders (26), Streety (30), Jason K (0) and Chris Silvers (16) were out. Luke joined Dad and they added 20 before son departed for 10. Wooders claimed are fourth duck of the innings and although Stu and Ealham added another 20 we were all out for 135.
A very disapointing day and another poor performance. One batsman had to bat through but this did not happen. It is easy to point fingers when things don't go well but collectively we were not good enough. !!! |
