'QUALITY' STREET.
Certain members of any club should stand out for praise and I know he's my mate but Mr Greg Street has put in this week what can only be described as a 'good shift' both on and off the field.I am reliably informed their has been alot of late nights to ensure the smooth running of another successful 'Lashings' event and it is a testament to his organising skills that everything worked like clockwork on the day with the minimum of fuss. This also applied to his batting on Saturday as he gave up his seat at his beloved 'Emirates' to help me out in my hour of need and produced a match winning 68no to steer us to victory against Maldon.
We started bowling really well and Joey found his range if not his run up and took 3 early wickets.Maldon's middle order smashed a few but 146 never looked enough but having watched us struggle to chase down low targets one or two times this season, I knew we were in for a few nervy moments.
At 60 odd for 4 the game was in the balance but a wounded Jason K is a dangerous animal and he smashed 9 boundaries in a quick fire 40 to help Greg get us home.
This was my last game at Manor Road and I must say that after nearly 40 years of playing at Haverhill I must complement all the hard working groundstaff on getting the place looking 'picture' perfect and all the 'corporate' guys at Lashings had nothing but praise for the facilities so lets stop beating each other up and moaning and groaning coz as I see it we are better off than most in the area.
