RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE 2 'VICTOR V MILHOUSE' While we strive for the 'Holy Grail' of promotion to Division 6, a sub plot is emerging in our bowling department. In the Red Corner, all the way from Streatham in London we have Martyn 'Victor' Wilkins and in the blue corner, originally from Romford but now out of Stowmarket, Dan 'Milhouse' Webb. The early exchanges in the contest saw Victor scoring heavily in the first few rounds but as the duel continued on, Milhouse has hit back in the middle part of the bout as Victor seemed to loose his range.Over the last couple of rounds, the jousting for superiority has continued and this weeks game against Witham saw no change in the overall difference as both got in a further 2 blows to add to their tally. The game itself saw Micky get a '69' , which I'm sure he was quite chuffed with, in our score of 203.Our fielding display was summed up by Paul Sullivan who took a stunning catch one over and tripped over his own feet in the next (How we laughed).Another stat. for the game was the bowling performance of Tom Saville, who returned the figures of 9-5-4-4 and that included 2 wides! and I advised him he should work on his accuracy. Joey K. got a 'cob' on again but took the final 2 wickets in our 98 run victory. For the record, Victor stands on 38 wickets and Milhouse 39 with 4 rounds to go.It's anybody's contest and should go right down to the wire. |
