 Sudbury III - Home
'SWINE' FLU CAN'T STOP WIN NUMBER NINE.

The Home dressing room was under quarantine with Messrs Webb,Taylor and Bradford all appearing to have symptoms of 'Swine' Flu.
Jon admitted to me prior to the game that the pitch was the worst he had prepared this year and I just knew Dave Shropshire, the Sudbury skipper would win the toss and ask us to bat and as sure as 'Chalky' Webb is first to the grub at teatime, we were put in.
I elected to open the batting with a sixty year old and a suspected 'swine'  flu victim but cometh the hour and 'Corporal' Jones and Stevie T both completed sublime half centuries and a 139 opening partnership put us on the way. Carl and JK added quickfire 30's and we passed 250 for the first time this season.
At tea, conversation turned to which was your first group seen live and 'Status Quo' at The Gaumont in Ipswich brought back memories for me but  Martyn's entry of 'Sad Cafe' had young Joey K scratched his head and muttering 'Never heard of 'em'. Trust me Joey light years better than some of todays shite.
JK has his very own brand of appealing and the glee when he pouches a catch is a joy to behold and it certainly livens us up in the field and with Martyn taking another 4 without bowling, by his own admission, at his best and Webby taking 4 with his assorted 'Fray Bentos' Sudbury were dismissed 157 runs short of the target.
Now Kettle has employed a gobby antipodean bowling coach he is firing them through at a decent lick but he does seem to tire quickly and looked completely shot to bits after 7 overs. As 'Sad Cafe' would say 'Everday Hurts'.
