 Eye & District - Home
'VICTOR'ious but 'Eye' don't believe it!

Cricket is an 11 man game but from time to time a player steps up to the plate and turns a match almost single handedly.
Eye and District rode into Manor Road looking to knock us off top spot and must have left wondering just how this had not happened.
Being slightly short in the bowling department against arguably the best batting line up in the Division was a worry and many of their guys play shots for fun so hard graft in the field was expected.
Nurul took a bit of early tap but Martyn was joined by Mickey and these two trojans bowled there hearts out and took 9 wickets between them with 'Victor' bowling 15 straight on the bounce and young Michael somehow bowling 9 and it was a 'pleading look' to say no more as exhaustion had left him unable to speak.Smart catches from Nurul and Carl saw the visitors dangermen depart and a target of 132 looked comfortable.
However, unlike our bowling, our batting this season has been average at best. Poor shots and a ludicrous first ball run out by Carl left us in all sorts of trouble and 42 runs were still needed with just 2 wickets remaining but Martyn has a never say die attitude and he cajoled the strike and with 'Joey' put on 17 but with 25 still needed and Nurul strolling out to the wicket the cry of 'Start the Car' was heard from the sizeable crowd.
The next 20 minutes or so was pure theatre and Martyn showed great faith in Nurul's batting ability as the target gradually crept down.Grown men were pacing the boundary line and when the scores were levelled and Nurul on strike with one ball remaining in the over, all thoughts were 'Just block the bloody thing Nurul'.
A quite stunning cover drive from the Number 11 followed and somehow a win was secured.
Martyn finished 37NO and together with his five wickets has been nominated in the Queens Birthday honours list with a MOM.
