Cup Final watchers missed another feast of cricket at the Manor.Greeny destroyed his 0-0 correct score slip at one minute past three and settled back to watch us bat. I can now reveal that I have won the toss every match this season and inserted the opposition but not even I could bring myself to field first on such a glorious day. Sterling work by Kettle senior in the morning on the pitch was much appreciated and in the afternoon he took to his 'barman' duties like a duck to water. 'Banks' AKA 'Jessie' Ryder made his long awaited debut for the 2's and was delighted to be presented with his 'Woodlands' shirt. (thats it for the XXL's) With 'Sparky' umpiring and 'Chalky' scoring the difficult task of finding folk for these slots was eased and I could actually sit back and watch some cricket. The youthful Witham line up bowled with admirable control but with all the batters getting some (but only Greg passed 50) we set a decent target of 242. The dropped catch bug started to creep in a bit but we did cling onto some.Kettle Juniors bowling continues to improve, if only the same could be said of his batting and fielding which continues in the category of 'ordinary'. Sam H took a couple and 'Milhouse' got 4 which would have been five if the 'Rinaldi' bug had not reached yours truly.'Jessie' seemed to think Webby turned a couple today but I'd need television replays to confirm that. Win number 7 was secured by 140 runs but as skipper my day was made when a tacticul decision to move Greg to slip resulted in him pouching a catch the very next ball. Any captain will tell you how sweet that feels.
