WIN NUMBER 5 BLOWS IN. Team picked on Monday, no phone calls or drop outs all week, it was too good to be true and sure enough Saturday morning brought a hand injury to Luke (football season used to run from September to April in my day). A quick call to Jon, a 5 minute wait while Jon used up any 'brownie points' he had built up recently with Sam and the keepers birth was filled. Strategically bags of sand were placed to keep the sight screens in place as a hurricane seemed to blowing from the Camps direction. Nurul lost the toss to bowl into the wind but toiled away manfully while Martyn was enjoying the breeze behind him as he took the first three wickets. Mickey, having dropped 2 more in the slips, took up the baton into the wind and claimed a couple and Dan W bowled his best spell so far this season and was rewarded with a treble. Kettle and Hartshorn continue to improve and Joey finds an extra yard of pace especially when umpires give a 'wide' and he will soon be taking over Martyn's mantle of most 'teapots' in one game. Mickey dropped 2 more to bring his personal game total to 4 and I still don't know how he snuck back into the slip cordon as I had sacked him from that position after drop number 3. The 109 we needed to chase down was achieved in under 20 overs with a 'swarthy' looking Taylor notching a half century after his Spanish break last week. With the game finishing early, Mickey and Steve had ample time to get the 'Kronenburg' goggles on and when I left they were planning to gatecrash a 'Eurovision' party! .'Krony' does do strange things to some folk.
