| Kesgrave - Away |
 |
OMG, It's 4 from 4! Games against our latest opponents Kesgrave have always been close and nobody forgets our tied game of two years ago, especially Dan W, who still dines out on those 2 boundaries he hit in the last over of that game. Dan was in fact the top wicket taker today but I think he will admit the bowling honours went to Martyn today. 'Victor' as he is known to many has lightened up considerably having been introduced to 2nd XI humour but Micky still suffered the now legendary 'teapot' when spilling a regulation slip catch. 12 excellent overs saw a return of 2-28 when on another day he could easily have taken a 'Michele'. Micky's comment that he looked sharper in the field than some of the youngsters didn't go down too well with one or two but lighten up lads, it was a joke (it has too be!). Fielding for 45 overs does destroy powers of concentration(especially mine) and overall we have looked much sharper this season considering the number of older legs we carry. 150 is the highest total we have had to chase this year and we were making a bit of a meal of it when 'Quality' Street was joined by the returning fledgling Jones, fresh from visiting Roy in the Caribbean and the experience shone through as this pair took us to the verge of victory. At the tender age of 60, Phil wasn't particularly pleased when asked by Greg to run a three and even more unhappy when the fielder declared the ball had actually reached the boundary so 66 yards of hard graft was all for nothing. Micky blasted a few to ensure win number 4 and the dash back along the A14 to enjoy Rob's BBQ was unnecessary as the 'tukka' wasn't ready but it was worth the wait, Good Effort Mate.
