Tuddenham Vs Haverhill Sunday 1sts 10th May 2009
Haverhill lost the toss and were put into bat on a green but dry looking wicket. Openers Wigan and Proctor again started very watchfully and Haverhill had moved onto 15-0 off 9 overs. Wigan was then adjudged LBW and Proctor soon followed caught behind. This brought Dean Sharpe and Carl Bradford to the crease. Sharpe played very straight and soon stroked his way to a quickfire 20 including a six onto the clubhouse roof! He too was then given out LBW and Dingley strode out with the score on 48-3. He dominated immediately and carved the bowlers all over the park. Dingley hit nine boundaries in his final total of 45. Bradford, Woodley, Kettle all perished to poor shot selection and Haverhill were limping at 129-6. Thompson and Watkins batted excellently to bunt Haverhill towards 200. Thompson fell on 21 and Watkins finished on 18 not out. Davis and Walker pushed Haverhill onto a final score of 192-9. Tuddenhams reply got off a very bad start as Davis (3-25) tempted Bromley to nick behind to a grateful Haverhill wicketkeeper, Jon Watkins. Other opening bowler Walker (1-33) kept things very tight with some pacey bowling and Tuddenham were restricted to just 31-2 off the first ten overs. Davis had also claimed the scalp of Smith for 23. Joe Woodley (4-39) then bowled sharply with large seam movement. He claimed four wickets, all bowled including the vital wicket of Cross (33) with an inswinging yorker. At the other end, Thompson and Kettle (1-9) bowled exceptionally well and allowed the pressure to build. Tuddenham had gone from 68-2 to 68-5 in the space of 3 overs. Walker returned to claim his first wicket for Haverhill and Davis picked up his third wicket to restrict Tuddenham to 138 all out. Another great team effort from Haverhill ensured three wins from the first three games. |
