After two weekends with no cricket Haverhill Sunday II’s were away at Acton. Batting first Haverhill Openers Sam Hartshorn and David Saville took the score to 25 before Saville was caught off the bowling of Chris Sturgeon. Anthony Phillips followed shortly after without scoring and Hartshorn was joined by Paul Spirling. The pair built a strong partnership against accurate bowling from Acton. Hartshorn was out C&B for a fine 50 by Sturgeon bringing Haverhill skipper Graham Brandejs out to join Spirling. Another good partnership followed until Brandejs was caught for 34. Tom Saville 10 n.o. stayed to the end along with Paul Spirling who finished with an excellent 64 n.o. and a Haverhill total of 184. A wonderful start by the Haverhill opening pair of Tom Saville and David Baulcomb saw Acton in deep trouble very quickly. After five overs Acton were reeling with 3 wickets down for 1 run on the board. Fourteen year old Tom Saville finished with the incredible figures of 5overs 4maidens 3 wickets for only 1 run. Haverhill had the luxury of being able to spread the bowling between eight bowlers , all contributing to a great team effort seeing Acton all out for 106 , a win by 78 runs.
