 Felixstowe Corinthians - Away
Haverhill put the Corinthians to the Sword

As someone of advancing years I can only surmise the noble art of fielding is an age thing.

Scenario one sees the somewhat portly opening bowler down at fine leg recovering from the previous overs exertions when a delicate leg glance sees him called into action and the size 10 is stationed appropriately to stop the ball. He gingerly bends over to pick it up before bowling the ball into the keeper as his shoulder has gone. The throw,if that what you can call it, just about reaches the keeper and the batsmen gently stroll through for a single.

Scenario two sees the ball whipped down to fine leg from outside off and the lithe, athletic and well tanned quickie sprints around the boundary and from 10 yards away goes into a huge slide on one knee, picks up one handed and in one motion sends an arrow like throw straight over the top. The batsmen have scampered the first quickly but don't risk the second on the arm so a single is all that is scored.

As you can see, same outcome on the scoreboard and the only subtle difference is the requirement of a large supply of Oxi spray to clean the whites.

For our first away trip we visit last seasons Champions Felixstowe Corinthians, I find myself tending blisters from the new boots of last week but otherwise the body seems to have held up fairly well.

The fielding display this week is one of the best all round efforts since my tenure as skipper and the catch count was 5 and 0 (Yes no spillage) was impressive indeed with Luke snaffling 3 sharp chances behind. The dangerous Aussie opener Monteith was well held by Muller (Honest) during a fiery 8 over spell by Mickey(Honest).

Carl M took 4 scalps from his stint but special mention goes to Dan W as his one over of guile and flight leaked as many runs as Martyn's 13 over spell!

Chasing 106, we lost a couple of early wickets as is the norm but the athletic Street was joined by Youngs and this partnership brought us within 20 of victory and when Sam H lofted the winning runs in over 32 another victory was in the bag.

Two games gone, no bookings or sending offs and 39 points on the board.
