With the exceptions of Liam Savage with a long staying 30 runs and Joe Woodley with a fighting 21 not out , Haverhill made very heavy weather of their innings. Nobody else stayed around long enough to trouble the excellent bowling of Withersfield.

The opening pairing of Alex Talbot and Simon Ratford were a combination of pace and excellent line and length which were too much for most of the Haverhill batsmen. With six overs of the innings unused Haverhill were all out for 107.

Despite having a low total to defend the Haverhill opening bowlers , Joe Woodley and Dan Poole set about the task in a very positive way , bowling with good pace and accuracy .

Both bowled their allotted ten overs straight through and had restricted the total to 50 off 20 overs with 2 wickets down. Martin Buckner and Andy Edwards added a profitable partnership before Edwards was bowled by Steve Saville . Two late wickets were added by Joey Kettle before the required total was achieved by Withersfield for 5 wickets . Simon Ratford ended with 10 overs 4 maidens 4 wickets for 20 runs. Withersfield won this local derby by 5 wickets in a match played in the best spirit of game
