The pitch was suprisingly firm although damp after the morning showers and Haverhill found themselves put into bat and after the early loss of Taylor, Carl Bradford(24) and Phil Jones(38) punished any loose ball.

After this pair departed, youngsters Luke Youngs(43) and Josh Meekings(22) kept the momentum going with some excellent running between the wickets and Luke in particular played some lovely shots square of the wicket.

The less mobile Mick Rinaldi(41) and Julian Poole(35 no) bludgeoned 75 off the last 9 overs to see Haverhill to a very healthy 225-6 off their allotted overs.

Rus Davis and Josh Meekings both bowled lively opening spells and the Eye batsmen were never allowed to settle and Meekings removed the top three to reduce the home side to 37-3.

The change bowlers, Paul Turner and Nurul Hoque kept the pressure on with some very accurate stuff and Turner also claimed 3 wickets tokeep Eye to 65-6 off 25 overs.

With the game lost, the Eye batsmen seemed happy to block the overs out hoping for the weather to intervene but Haverhill got through there overs quickly and the home side limped to 106-6 and saw Haverhill win by a massive 119 runs.

Skipper Poole said ' An excellent all round performance from the team. All the batsmen chipped in with important runs and the bowlers accuracy never wavered. High standards have now been set and weneed to continue in this vain for our trip to West Mersea on Saturday'.
