Reed and Weep for Haverhill at Brockley
Haverhill lost the toss and fielded first . Opening bowlers Russell Davis and Joe Woodley bowled very economically in their opening spell , Woodley conceding only 5 runs from 5 overs. When Steven Fox and Steve Saville took over the bowling the tight grip on the batting continued .

After 16 overs the score was only 43 without loss. However , when Steve Fox took the first wicket the game changed dramatically with the arrival at the crease of Brockley first team star player Joe Reed . He quickly set about all of the Haverhill bowlers and eventually scored an enormous 181 before being caught going for another huge hit on the boundary by Graham Brandejs off the bowling of Joe Woodley. Besides this massive individual innings Brockley’s next top score was 28 , but the score amassed was 295 for 5 off 40 overs.
Haverhill’s batting reply was virtually non existent , with only Brandejs , Woodley and Fox reaching double figures . Brockley bowler A.Talbot destroyed the innings with figures of 5 for 15 off 8 overs and the reply was only a miserable 58 runs . |
