DBSL were put into bat by the home side and disciplined bowling from Nurul Hoque and some sharp fielding by the Haverhill youngsters, kept the run rate under control.
Steve Fox made the breakthrough in the 12th over with the score on 34 and wickets fell steadily at one end but a solid innings from opener Clements(72) for DBSL ensured that the visitors reached 152-7 off their allotted overs with Hoque finishing with excellent figures of 3-45 off 17 overs.
DBSL's strength is their bowling attack and in particular the opening bowler Howland, and so it was to be thatHaverhill's batsmen struggled to put together any worthwhile partnerships and runs were hard to come by.Only 3 Haverhill batsman reached double figures and in fact extras of 22 was top scorerresulting in the home side being bowled out for 87 and so losing by 65 runs.
Team Manager Poole said' A frustrating week with so many players unavailable but I would like to commend the youngsters who stepped in and did Haverhill proud, especially inthe fielding display, which was top classall afternoon'
The Seconds have no game this week but visit Sudbury the following Saturday. |
