 Tuddenham - Away

Haverhill travelled to the very picturesque town of Tuddenham to play a game that could be, dependant on other outcomes, for the top spot. Haverhill lost the toss and were asked to bat. Without Neil Winter, Greg Street and Martyn Wilkins the side was three batsmen down. Skipper Rob Sullivan (10) once again had to open the batting with Simon Youngs (59). Although a reasonable partnership of 36 Haverhill didn’t start off as well as planned. Simon Youngs once again provided the backbone to the top order with Dave Godwin (27) slowly increasing his strike rate as the afternoon progressed. The scoring was slow but with plenty of wickets inhand Adam Dellar (60) and Dave Godwin went about improving the rate superbly. Dan Poole (37) once again batted well with strong backfoot drives into the outfield and pushed the rate up even further. Dan Wilkins (10) brought the innings to a close.

Haverhill 4 for 216

Tuddenham got off to a very start with some wayward bowling from Rob Sullivan early in his spell. Simon Youngs at the other end held the top order before Rob Sullivan removed both openers. Tight accurate bowling on a very fast outfield was the order of the day and although his batting is superb Adam Dellar unfortunately couldn’t find his length and was often frustrated by the amount of turn on offer. Best bowling came at the axis of the game where it could have gone either way. Great spells from Russ Davies and Joe Woodley proved too much for the middle and lower order. A superb direct hit boundary throw from Russ Davies to run out the last Tuddenham batsmen brought the game to a close.

Tuddenham All Out for 201

Skipper Says:

What a great game. We batted slowly, but accelarted towards the end with some good running between wickets and in the field the team was fired up. Great fielding from Carl Bradford, Russ Davies and Keiron Ewens made a huge difference to the pace of the game. We maintained pressure and they struggled to pierce the field from the accurate bowling.

An all-round fantastic effort from the entire team. Especially the young fellas, well done. We are now back on top of the league, the competition is so tight we can’t relax. Keep it up boys.
