Bradford(48) and Rinaldi(3) were out shortly afterwards but this brought together 13 year old Luke Youngs and his senior partner 14 year old Josh Meekings and what transpired in the next 20 or so overs was a joy to watch for the spectators as both youngsters played an array of superb shots both sides of the wicket combined with excellent running between the wickets.

Both players scored there maiden half centuries for the senior side and there 148 run partnership was onlybrought to an end when Josh was bowled for a high class 81. Luke went on to make a fantastic 85 and ably supported by another youngster Joey Kettle, who made a quick 26, Haverhill ended there innings on a massive 322-6.
With the wicket playing so well, the Haverhill bowlers were in for a hard session but Hoque,Webb and Paul Turner on his return to the team together with the youngsters all bowled with control and restricted Maldon to 179-8 in there allocation of overs thus giving Haverhill a decisive 143 run win.Best bowling from Dan Webb of 3-47 from 12 overs.
Teammanager Julian Poole said ' When we first decided to reform the Seconds for Saturday cricket these are the sort of daysthat make it all worthwhile.Watching Luke and Josh play with such maturity and put on that marvellous partnership was by far the highlight of the season thus far and hopefully these two, plus some other young lads coming through the youth structure ably managed by Martyn Wilkins, willbe the future of Haverhill CCfor many years to come'.
