Josh Meekings took the new ball and bowled with great control but without luck and his first 5 overs went for just 6 runs.Nurul Hoque made the initial breakthrough but it was the introduction of Steve Fox, who claimed 3 wickets in his 5 over spell, all clean bowled that reduced the home side to 60-4.

The Maldon middle order then stabilised and began to build a useful partnership before Hoque and Meekings returned to the attack and the last 6 wickets went for the addition of only 8 runs with both Haverhill bowlers ending with 3 wickets apiece, leaving the home side all out for 128.

Haverhill openers Phil Jones and Steve Taylor batted with intent and were dealing mainly in boundaries to save the legs from too much running and put on 72 before Jones was bowled for 34.
Thompson and Rinaldi went cheaply but Jon Watkins(18no) joined Taylor(71no) and this pair batted sensibly and saw Haverhill home by 7 wickets with more than 20 overs to spare.

Skipper Poole said ' Another first class knock by Steve Taylor saw us home but special mention to Josh Meekings whose bowling has improved week after week and all at Haverhill wish him well when he plays against Middlesex for Suffolk Under 15's at Ipswich tomorrow. The blend of experience and youth seems to be working but will be fully tested this Saturday with a tough home match against unbeaten Kesgrave'
